Since 2020 Dr. Sasha Mäkilä has devoted his scholarly attention on researching the music manuscripts of the Finnish composer Leevi Madetoja. Most of Madetoja’s compositions exist only in manuscript form and even his published works often suffer from poor editorial work.
Dr. Mäkilä is now preparing two critical editions – Madetoja’s Piano Trio op. 1 and his Symphony No. 1 op. 29 – which will be published later in 2025. Before them, however, Editions FCS publishes the Piano Concerto by Mikko Nisula, which received its premiere in 2024. This is a new work dedicated to the pianist Kirill Kozlovski and a great addition to the modern Finnish piano repertoire.
